Donate Food to Made In Hackney

Who are Made In Hackney?

During the Covid-19 lockdown, the community kitchen Made In Hackney has been cooking and delivering meals for some of London's most vulnerable people.

How can we help?

We would like to make it easy and safe for people to donate food to Made in Hackney without having to leave their homes, so we are offering to collect the required food from your door (provided you live in London!) and deliver it to them. Of course, we’d love to deliver beer to you at the same time, but we’ll also collect even if you’re not buying from us.

If you are ordering beer from us and live in London:

At checkout you will be able to leave us a note – please just say “I have food to donate” in the notes and we will ensure our driver collects the food whilst delivering.

If you are not ordering beer from us and live in London:

Email advising us you have food to donate, your address, a contact phone number and we’ll get to you as soon as possible.

What do they need?

Made in Hackney need dried goods and grains, foods which will keep well without refrigeration. This means:

  • Rice
  • Pasta
  • Lentils
  • Beans

How will our driver collect this safely?

Our delivery driver (Thomas – he is a legend so be nice to him!) will call you before he arrives, giving you a little bit of time to ensure you have the food ready to exchange. On arrival, Thomas will leave your beer on your doorstep (if you have ordered beer) and knock/ring the bell before stepping away. Please then swap the beer for the food and Thomas will take it once you have closed your door.

I don't live in London, how can I help?

If you'd like to donate food, the Trussel Trust offer a list of food banks here. If you'd like to make a donation directly to Made In Hackney, they have an ongoing fundraiser.
